CROWDFUNDING REGULATION IN MEXICO THROUGH UK EXPERTISE.

Through funding granted by the *Mexico Prosperity Fund, Cerebro Urbano brings UK expertise to participate in the emerging ecosystem of crowd-funding and the new financial solutions being created that will have a broader impact on private capital markets in Mexico.

This project will ensure that the CNBV (National Banking and Securities Commission) and the SHCP (Ministry of Finance) benefit from UK expertise when drafting a bill to propose a new law to regulate crowd-funding platforms in Mexico. It will also lay the foundations for secondary regulation that will be needed to oversee and supervise the financial operations taking place via these platforms.

These strategic initiatives will involve a series of workshops and exchange visits to the UK and in Mexico involving CNBV, SHCP, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Mexican and British crowd-funding industries.

*Since 2011, the Prosperity Fund created by the British Government has supported the FCO’s Prosperity Priority on opening markets, ensuring access to resources, and promoting sustainable global growth, mainly in the emerging powers.
The Mexico Prosperity Fund aims to create the conditions for global growth. Its core aims are to support sustainable economic growth leading to a reduction in poverty in recipient countries. Over time, it is expected that these reforms will also create opportunities in Mexico for international and UK businesses alike.
